Assignment # 19

Assignment # 19

Tubing

Free on a tube behind a fast moving boat moves me like a pinball machine. I’m fast and mysterious and don’t want to fall into the water. My friends and family all in the back of the boat looking at my friend and me compete to stay on, try to hold on and to not let go. The boat turned very sharp and we both went to the left really fast and water splashed on my face. I could see a huge wave ahead and I prepared myself for a hard landing. We flew in the air and stayed on until another wave came and nocked us both off the tube. The water was cold and I could see the boat turn around to come get us. It was sunny out and it was a perfect day to be out in the water. I climbed back on the tube and its so fun being out and enjoying life. I decided to take a break and got back on the boat where my family had lunch ready in a cooler. I grabbed a turkey sandwich and ate it. My mom and dad were laughing about something I don’t know what about but seeing everyone having fun makes me feel good and happy. I sat down and wrapped myself in a towel. It was getting windy and the waves became rougher leaving ripples. The boat drifting down the river. Time to relax and to enjoy the evening. I love these days.

Question #5: Who or what is “ The Eternal Footman”? Why is this footman or servant snickering at Prufrock?
Line 85: I think that the Eternal Footman is the guy who stands by the door letting everyone go through the room wearing a tuxedo. Its his job to be there and he may also be a servant for hanging up coats. This footman is snickering at Prufrock because of maybe he doesn’t like his job and wishes that he didn’t have to hang peoples coats. He might be snickering at him because in Prufrocks mind he thinks he’s snickering because of how he looks. Hes old, small and has thin arms and legs. Also how he is getting old and getting a bald spot on top of his head. Another reason why he is snickering is because of how Prufrock is worried and it shows on his face.

Assignment #18

Assignment # 18
A Memory I had
Arriving at the parking lot where we first pick out our pig for Fair,
Smelling the poop and mud reminded me of the Spring County Fair.
Looking in the trailer the piglet’s eyes looking at me
Confused like lost kids in a crowd.
Spotting out the cute perfect piglet in the group of pigs had,
A white body with a black head.
Seeing the piglet in the cage it looked wild.
I climbed the truck and let the cute little piglet smell my hand.
Its eyes looked at mine and it liked my sent.
I looked and said his name is Hummer and you are mine.
He was a boy and was plumpy, and big boned.
At home the piglet became my pet,
We played and Hummer ate all day,
Hummer got bigger and bigger and soon he
Was a big nice looking hog.
Fair was getting closer,
Time to practice showing Hummer for the Fair.
In the morning and at night we worked together
And had a great time.
We have a great bond.
At the Fair Hummer made the weight,
We got a blue,
Cleaned up pretty well,
At the end had to say good- bye but looking in his eyes he had a wonderful time.

Does Poetry Matter?

Does Poetry Matter?

I believe that poetry does matter in our society. Why? Because its unique and it experiences many different kinds of sonnets, and different poems that will express different feelings about certain situations. People may not know many poems but once you do it can be neat to read. Some poems may be hard to read and to understand but you can reread it over and over again and you can think it through to be able to understand each part it represents. If we didn’t have poems the world would express it in a different way. How can we explain how our feelings are? Poems can be scary dark, happy or sad and loving. That’s why I think that poems do matter in a way to express the way you feel. You can get ideas of what to do and to discover ways to understand the society. Movies use poems in a way that can be romantic. Poems can make you feel better from the inside.  I agree that poetry does matter. If we didn’t understand the meaning of it then you would be lost and you wouldn’t be able to express the love or hatred towards something. Poetry is everywhere even if you don’t think its poetry, it actually really is.
When growing up in elementary we went over poetry and it was hard but fun. We could imagine different things and be creative. You can color and change the world by writing on what you imagine or see. With poetry you can create a fun atmosphere with plays and music and dance. With it you can come up with stories and be funny and make it into a comedy.  The world needs laugher and excitement and poetry can make it happen with having different stories and ideas that you can think of and to be open minded. It makes you think and to over look and to be thoughtful. The world would be blank if there were no poetry. Why? It is because you wouldn’t be able to explain and to bring your thoughts out to anything. That’s why I think Poetry matters in our world.
